I have broad range of skills built in a wide range of careers. See my CV here. After graduating from Rice University in Houston Texas, I started a family in Vienna, Virginia and got to work in the Data Processing side of the World Wide Airline Industry. As I did the typical dad stuff like coaching youth sports and running neighborhood organizations, what became clear to me was that I enjoyed working with kids much more than anything I had done prior. This realization led me to a Master’s in Education (M.Ed.) George Mason University in 2005. I graduated with the top student award for our class in special education. Next came a life’s worth of real life, high stakes, Special Education experience and teaching opportunities and well as leadership positions within three very unique Fairfax County Public Schools.
15 years in the education world at GMU and FCPS gave my many experiences that I draw on daily to guide my support of both families and schools. When these two stake holders empower a student-centered approach to learning we know that real, relevant progress for the student begins.
I played baseball at Rice University and continue to play in “Old Man Baseball” leagues today!
